Daniel Einstein
Child in the compiled Isak/Miriam household; reportedly emigrated to America. The current compiled year is 1842, while the Steinheim family-register reconstruction gives 1843; the discrepancy remains unresolved pending the birth entry.
Daniel Einstein of Fellheim
Father of Leopold/Jehuda. Bergmann explicitly reports Daniel in a 1722 Fellheim population list and Daniel's wife as a widow in a 1747 list; death before 1747 is an inference. The two original entries have not been verified.
Daniel Leopold Einstein
Father of Isak according to scholarly register reconstruction.
E
Edith Karola Wortsmann Silverstein
Daughter of Caecilie and Max. Their federal naturalization files independently give her birth as 28 October 1927 in Stuttgart and place her in Atlanta in 1944.
Emanuel Einstein
Child in the scholarly Isak/Miriam household reconstruction. Emanuel, born 1845, is listed separately from the unnamed child born in 1844 and must not be merged with Emil Einstein without a primary record proving identity.
Emil Einstein
Stuttgart merchant. Exact Laupheim birth entry remains a priority. The exact 29 June 1844 date in a derivative Find a Grave memorial is not adopted because the memorial supplies no underlying image or citation and conflates Emil with Emanuel.
Emil H. Saalfeld
Confirmed by Auguste Saalfeld's 1939 declaration as her child, born in Limburg. His 1938 federal petition documents immigration under Emil Saalfeld and a legal name change to Emil Harding Salfield upon naturalization. Primary passenger manifests document arrivals in 1923 and 1926; the 1923 entry names his father Ignatz in Limburg, while the 1926 entry reports a 1923-1925 New York stay. Spring Grove's burial card records his late residence and place of death at 7121 South Richmond Street, Chicago, and interment in Cincinnati. A certified copy of his Chicago death certificate in S-028 confirms his 11 June 1952 hospital death, birth date, residence, and parents.
Esther Oettinger
Wife of Leopold/Jehuda in scholarly register reconstruction.
H
Harry Louis Freeman
Harry Louis Freeman married Sarah Minnie Saxe in Philadelphia in 1897. A repeated spouse-and-child household pattern links the family from Philadelphia to Omaha, but the underlying census and directory images remain to be reviewed. His exact birthplace, immigration year, and any surname used before Freeman remain unresolved.
Heinrich Wortsmann
Named in active Ludwigsburg restitution inquiry.
I
Ignatz Saalfeld
Spouse of Auguste; primary marriage documentation still remains to be added. S-027's Limburg municipal and commercial-register evidence identifies him as the formal proprietor of S. Saalfeld, a women's and girls' clothing shop at Grabenstrasse 36, and gives his exact Limburg birth date. The couple were last registered at Marktstrasse 17 in Limburg before moving to Stuttgart on 28 February 1937. S-028's file card and Auguste's signed compensation application record his death on 6 July 1937 in Wiesbaden; the underlying civil death record has not yet been reviewed.
Isak Einstein
Butcher and innkeeper in Laupheim.
J
Joseph Einstein
Child in compiled Isak/Miriam household; reportedly emigrated to America. An official LEO-BW entry records a single Jewish brewer named Joseph Einstein of Laupheim emigrating to North America on 29 July 1856 (S-135), but because that index gives no age or parents, identity with this person remains a medium-confidence hypothesis (C-071).
Joseph Henry Freeman
Joseph Henry Freeman was a son of Harry Louis Freeman and Sarah Minnie Saxe. Census indexes place him with that family in Philadelphia and Omaha, then as the father of Melvin Jerome Freeman in Omaha. Exact vital dates remain unpromoted pending review of original records.
Josephine Einstein Schwarzschild Stone
Daughter of Emil Einstein and Karoline/Caroline Schweizer. She married Siegfried Schwarzschild in Stuttgart in August 1909, emigrated alone in 1939, and legally changed her name to Josephine Stone when naturalized in San Francisco on 14 November 1949. Her naturalization file states that the couple had no children; Stone was a court-approved name change, not evidence of a later marriage.
K
Karoline Schweizer
Wife and later widow of Emil Einstein. Her 1924 Stuttgart civil death entry confirms née Schweizer, birth on 7 November 1854 in Altdorf bei Ettenheim, and identity with the 1854–1924 Pragfriedhof candidate.
Klara Gietel
Associated with Ichenhausen; some compiled dates are known to be erroneous.
L
Lazarus/Elieser Einstein
Father of Miriam according to the 1828 proceeding; gravestone lau-458 calls him Elieser son of Jehuda and records his death on 9 June 1836 at age 75. Its family-register reconstruction separates the children of his first wife, Mathilde/Matele Samuel, from those of his second wife, Jeanette Bernheim.
Leo Schwarzschild
Earlier unsupported record that named Josephine Einstein's 1909 spouse as Leo. Contemporary naturalization and passenger records identify her husband as Siegfried Schwarzschild (P-039), and the Stuttgart memorial biography independently agrees. Do not merge P-019 with P-039 or reuse this record without new direct evidence for a distinct Leo Schwarzschild.
Leopold Einstein
Child in compiled Isak/Miriam household; reportedly emigrated to America.
Leopold/Jehuda Einstein
Hebrew gravestone names his father Daniel.
Ludwig Einstein
The primary naturalization and draft records establish this Ludwig as born 26 July 1880 in Stuttgart, unmarried, and resident at 3897 Clay Street in San Francisco. The 1940 and 1950 censuses identify him as Melita Levy's brother, and the 1950 census also identifies Josephine Stone as their sister. Combined with the established sibling identities and a California death index naming his mother as Schweitzer and father as Einstein, he is strongly supported as a son of Emil Einstein and Karoline/Caroline Schweizer and a brother of Auguste, Melita, and Josephine. The original parent-naming birth or death record has not yet been reviewed, so the parentage is not confirmed.
M
Martha Ehrlich
Named in active Ludwigsburg restitution inquiry.
Mathilde Einstein Arnheim
Child in compiled Isak/Miriam household; reportedly emigrated to America.
Mathilde/Matele Samuel
Mother of Miriam in scholarly register notes. Epidat lau-438 argues, with explicit uncertainty, that the surviving stone is likely hers and gives a birth date of 5 June 1765 and a death window between 1808 and 1810. Those dates remain out of the structured fields until the underlying register entry is imported or the stone identification is independently resolved.
Max Wortsmann
Spouse of Caecilie and a cotton merchant. His naturalization file identifies Stuttgart as his last foreign residence and documents his 9 March 1939 arrival at New York aboard the SS Queen Mary. He became a United States citizen on 2 August 1944.
Melita Einstein
Auguste's 1965 obituary names Melita Levy as her sister. The 1950 census directly identifies widowed Melita Levy, age 70, at 3897 Clay Street in San Francisco as the sister of Ludwig Einstein and Josephine Stone. Josephine's independent identity records complete the bridge to the Stuttgart Einstein household. The census age supports an approximate 1879 birth year but does not establish an exact date or birthplace. No linked source identifies Melita's husband or supports the proposed Bruno Levy association.
Melvin Jerome Freeman
Melvin Jerome Freeman was a son of Joseph Henry Freeman. A 1930 Omaha census index supplies the parent-child link. Exact vital dates remain unpromoted, and living descendants remain private.
Mendel Rosenberg
GEDCOM reconciliation and Mendel's public first-person oral history support birth on 18 September 1928 in Königsberg, East Prussia (now Kaliningrad). He grew up in Šiauliai, Lithuania, and survived the Šiauliai ghetto, Stutthof and Dachau/Mühldorf camp systems. He was detained with his brother Shimon/Simon; their father was Samuel/Shmuel. immigrated to the United States in March 1947, served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and later recorded survivor testimony. His 2021 obituary gives death on 27 July 2021. Exact genealogical assertions from the GEDCOM remain derivative until matched to underlying records.
Miriam Einstein
Born Einstein; wife of Isak; contemporary funeral sermon and gravestone corroborate dates.
Moritz Einstein
Merchant in Laupheim and informant on Emil’s death record, where he is identified as Emil’s brother.
R
Recha Rosenberg
Family identification and GEDCOM reconciliation identify Recha as Mendel Rosenberg's mother and Samuel/Shmuel Rosenberg's wife, and give birth on 5 May 1895. The export documents a postwar displaced-person migration sequence and 1950 Youngstown residence but its asserted parentage to Gutel Ehrlich and Sarah Richter remains provisional pending inspection of the underlying Social Security Applications and Claims evidence. No backward expansion is authorized during this reconciliation.
Rubin Milton Silverstein
Spouse of Edith Karola. A contemporary Atlanta obituary and his headstone identify him as Rubin Milton Silverstein. The 1926 naturalization petition of his father and the headstone give 2 January 1921, while the father's 1933 petition gives 2 January 1920; 1921 is retained as the better-supported date. Ruben is retained as a prior family-archive spelling.
S
Samuel Rosenberg
Samuel/Shmuel Rosenberg was Mendel and Shimon/Simon's father and Recha's husband. Geoff Silverstein confirmed the family identification on 25 September 2026 and reports that Samuel was shot and killed by Nazis soon after Germany invaded Lithuania. Earlier oral-history wording, institutional captions, and derivative records reverse Samuel and Simon; their role labels are retained as conflicting evidence. Camp catalog entries for a younger Samuel Rozenberg therefore are not attached to this person unless contemporary person-specific evidence establishes the identity. No exact death date or execution site is presently adopted.
Samuel W. Silverstein
Two U.S. naturalization petitions identify his birthplace as Shedletz in the Russian Empire and Sara as his wife. His headstone gives the exact death date.
Sara Silverstein
Wife of Samuel W. Silverstein and mother of Rubin. Samuel's 1926 petition reports a June 1895 birth in Russia; his 1933 petition reports 5 June 1894 in Shedletz. The exact birth date remains unresolved, and Levite has not been adopted as a maiden name because the petitions do not state it.
Sarah Minnie Saxe Freeman
Sarah Minnie Saxe married Harry Louis Freeman in Philadelphia in 1897 and appears with him in the documented Philadelphia-to-Omaha household chain. Records vary between Saxe, Sachs, and Sax and conflict on her exact birth year and birthplace.
Shimon Rosenberg
Mendel Rosenberg's brother, also known as Simon. Geoff Silverstein confirmed the family identification on 25 September 2026: Shimon was detained with Mendel for years under Nazi persecution and was killed after their separation. Earlier oral-history wording and institutional photo captions reverse the names Samuel and Simon; those derivative labels remain contradictory evidence rather than a basis for changing the confirmed family roles. No exact birth date, prisoner number, final camp, death date, or manner of death is adopted without a person-specific contemporary record.
Siegfried Schwarzschild
Husband of Josephine Einstein Schwarzschild Stone (P-018). Josephine's sworn United States naturalization records name him, give his Stuttgart birth date, and report their August 1909 Stuttgart marriage. S-025 identifies him as a merchant, former partner until 1930 in a wholesale metals and metallurgical- products business, and later operator of a Koenigstrasse travel bureau. It documents forced business closure by the end of 1938, later operation of the Jewish emigration office travel bureau through April 1941, compulsory wearing of the Jewish star, forced residence in the Tigerfeld Jewish home, deportation to Theresienstadt in August 1942, and transfer to Auschwitz on 16 May 1944. He was missing after that transport. The compensation authority inferred an early death at Auschwitz and fixed 31 May 1944 as the statutory death date; the actual date and place of death remain unknown. A 7 December 1957 Stuttgart inheritance certificate names Josephine as widow and one-half heir. His siblings Heinrich Schwarzschild (born 16 February 1880), Gertrud Metzger née Schwarzschild (born 19 February 1884), and Elsa Ostertag/Oster née Schwarzschild (born 10 June 1887) inherited one-sixth each.
