Reliability and limits
Bergmann reports finding a Moises Ainstein on a 1693 Buchau tax list and says Albert Einstein's ancestors almost certainly go back to that man. He cites published Buchau/Hohenems historical work and notes that Baruch Moses Ainstein, admitted to Buchau in 1665 from Wangen am Untersee, was presumably Moises's father. The wording "almost certainly" and "presumably" is explicitly inferential. This source supports the early Buchau household and naming context but does not document Daniel Einstein of Fellheim as Baruch's son or establish the Fellheim-Buchau common ancestor.
Supported discoveries
Bergmann documented unsuccessful attempts to connect the Swabian branches. The 2026 Augsburg archive search did not recover Daniel Einstein's underlying 1722/1747 originals or identify his father. Independent Buchau evidence now establishes an early Baruch Moses Ainstein household and supports an early Moises line, making Baruch a testable candidate common ancestor, but no source-backed Daniel-to-Baruch parent-child link has been found. Repeated derivative pedigrees asserting that link are leads, not documentary proof.
