Reliability and limits

Source-cited historical reconstruction, not direct proof. The parenthetical citation on page 14 names Wilhelm Rapp, Die Geschichte des Dorfes Fellheim an der Iller (1960), and "Reichlin-Meldegg Protocols 1720-1780," but gives no repository, archival signature, protocol date, page, or folio for either population list. The original 1722 and 1747 entries remain uninspected.

Supported discoveries

Leopold/Jehuda Einstein was a son of Daniel Einstein.

Leopold’s Hebrew gravestone names his father Daniel; Bergmann independently places the family in Fellheim.

Confirmed
Daniel Einstein was in Fellheim in 1722 and had died before 1747.

Bergmann explicitly reports a 1722 Fellheim population-list appearance for Daniel and a 1747 population-list description of Daniel's wife as a widow. Daniel's death before 1747 is an inference from the reported widow status, not wording verified in the original record. Archive staff now report a Daniel Einstein widow entry in A 401/7 (S-138); this supports the archival locator, but the uninspected report does not promote this claim.

Strongly supported
No documentary common ancestor has yet been established between the Fellheim/Laupheim Einstein branch and Albert Einstein’s documented Buchau branch.

Bergmann documented unsuccessful attempts to connect the Swabian branches. The 2026 Augsburg archive search did not recover Daniel Einstein's underlying 1722/1747 originals or identify his father. Independent Buchau evidence now establishes an early Baruch Moses Ainstein household and supports an early Moises line, making Baruch a testable candidate common ancestor, but no source-backed Daniel-to-Baruch parent-child link has been found. Repeated derivative pedigrees asserting that link are leads, not documentary proof.
