Reliability and limits
A Jewish institutional library article explicitly identifies Naphtali Hirsch Einstein (1733-1799) as "Naphtali ben David" and uses Rabbi Aron Tänzer's 1930 Einstein pedigree to establish him and Helene Handel Einstein as common ancestors of two documented Buchau Einstein descendant branches. The patronymic "ben David" strongly supports a father named David, consistent with the derivative identification of David Veit Einstein. The article does not reproduce the underlying Buchau register entry, so David Veit's exact parentage remains a separate unresolved earlier-generation question. Follow-up: S-109 directly inspects the cited 1930 original, whose displayed pedigree does not give ben David or Naphtali's dates. Preserve these as assertions of this 2026 summary, not verified readings of the 1930 pedigree.
